Dysport FAQs
What is Dysport?
Dysport is a prescription neuromodulator used to temporarily improve the look of certain dynamic wrinkles by relaxing targeted muscles. It is FDA-approved for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults under 65.
Is Dysport safe?
Dysport is generally considered safe when administered by a qualified medical professional and when treatment is appropriate for the patient. Like other botulinum toxin products, it also carries important safety warnings, including the risk of spread of toxin effect.
How long does Dysport take to work?
Some patients notice results in as little as 3-5 days, with results commonly becoming noticeable within 7- 14 days. Full results develop over in 14 days.
How long does Dysport last?
One treatment may last up to 3-4 months, although this varies based on the treatment area, dosage, muscle activity, and your individual metabolism.
Is Dysport treatment painful?
Most patients describe Dysport as a quick pinching sensation or mild discomfort. Treatment is generally fast and well tolerated.
Is there downtime after Dysport?
There is usually very little downtime. Small bumps, slight redness, or mild swelling at the injection sites can happen and often improve within minutes to hours.
What should I do after Dysport treatment?
Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area for 4 to 6 hours, remain upright for several hours after treatment, and avoid strenuous exercise for about 24 hours. Following your provider’s aftercare instructions helps support the best result.
Why am I not seeing results from Dysport yet?
Dysport works quickly for many patients, but not everyone responds on the same timeline. Some people notice changes within a few days, while full results can take up to 2 weeks. If you still do not see expected improvement after that, your provider may want to reassess.
Why did my Dysport wear off so quickly?
Results can fade faster in some patients due to stronger muscle activity, metabolism, exercise habits, dosage, or treatment area. Your provider can adjust future treatments based on how you respond.
Why do I still have movement in my forehead after Dysport?
Some movement is normal and often preferred for a natural-looking result. Dysport is meant to soften movement, not necessarily eliminate all expression.
What should I do if one side of my face looks uneven after Dysport?
Mild asymmetry can happen while Dysport is settling. In many cases, it improves as the treatment fully takes effect. If it remains after 14 days, your provider can reassess whether a touch-up is appropriate.
Why do my eyebrows feel heavy after Dysport?
A heavy feeling can happen temporarily as your muscles adjust to treatment. If it persists or feels significant, your provider should evaluate it.
Can Dysport make me look frozen or unnatural?
It can if too much is used or if treatment is not planned thoughtfully. Conservative dosing and good technique help preserve natural movement while softening lines. If your desired outcome is “frozen” our providers can develop a treatment plan for those specific results.
Can I fix wrinkles that are too deep for Dysport?
Sometimes. Dysport works best on dynamic lines caused by muscle movement. Deeper etched-in lines may improve, but combination treatment with filler, laser, or other skin treatments may sometimes be recommended.
Why do I have swelling or bumps after Dysport?
Small bumps at the injection sites are common right after treatment and usually fade within a few hours.
Why do I bruise easily after Dysport?
Bruising can happen, especially if you are prone to bruising or use alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning medications or supplements when medically appropriate. It is usually temporary.
