Botox FAQs

What should I do before and after treatment?

Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup and products. Minimize sun exposure before and after treatment. After Botox, avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated area for 4 to 6 hours, avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours, remain upright for 4 to 6 hours, and stay well hydrated.

Is Botox safe?

Botox is generally considered safe when administered by a qualified medical professional and when the treatment is appropriate for the patient. It is FDA-approved for both cosmetic and medical use.

How long do Botox results last?

Botox results typically last about 3 to 4 months. However, this can vary depending on metabolism, lifestyle, muscle activity, dosage, and the treatment area.

Is Botox treatment painful?

Most patients describe the sensation as a slight pinprick or mild discomfort. Botox injections are relatively quick and generally very well tolerated.

How long is the treatment process?

Patients can expect Botox treatment to take about 20 to 30 minutes from arrival to completion.

Is there downtime for Botox treatment?

There’s usually minimal downtime. Some patients might experience slight redness or swelling at the injection sites, but these side effects usually subside quickly.

Why is my Botox not working yet?

Botox takes time to take effect. Most patients see gradual results within 3 to 7 days, with full results in up to 14 days.

What if one side of my face looks different after Botox?

Mild asymmetry can happen during initial results. This often balances out as Botox fully settles, and minor adjustments can be made if needed.

What should I do if I still see wrinkles after Botox?

Deeper lines may take longer to improve or may require a combination approach such as fillers, lasers, peels, or additional sessions for optimal smoothing. Some movement can also be normal, especially early on or if lines were deeper at baseline.

            Can Botox wear off unevenly?

Yes, slight uneven fading can occur depending on muscle activity. Maintenance treatments help keep results balanced and consistent.

What if I feel my Botox is too strong?

Over-treatment is rare when done conservatively. If it occurs, it is temporary and will gradually wear off as Botox naturally fades. A slightly tight or heavy feeling can also happen at first and usually improves within a few days.

Why do I still have movement after Botox?

Some movement is normal and often desired for a natural look. Botox is not meant to completely freeze the face unless specifically requested and safely appropriate.

What if I bruise after Botox?

Minor bruising can happen and usually resolves within a few days. It does not affect your final results. We recommend staying hydrated and avoiding alcohol, NSAID-like products, and certain supplements before treatment when medically appropriate and approved by your prescribing provider.

Can Botox migrate to other areas of the face?

When Botox is properly injected and aftercare instructions are followed, it is intended to stay localized to the treatment area. Unwanted spread is uncommon, but proper injection technique, patient selection, and aftercare all matter.

What if I don’t like the “tight” feeling after Botox?

A slight tight sensation is normal initially and typically fades within a few days as your muscles adjust.

Why did my wrinkles come back sooner than expected?

This can happen due to fast metabolism, high muscle activity, or low dosage. Your provider can adjust future treatments accordingly.

What if I stop Botox after several treatments?

Your muscles will gradually return to normal activity, and wrinkles will reappear at their natural pace. Botox does not make them worse.

Can Botox cause droopy eyelids or eyebrows?

This is uncommon and usually temporary. It can happen due to product placement or diffusion, which is why proper assessment, injection technique, and aftercare matter.

What should I do if I’m nervous before my first Botox treatment?

A consultation is the best first step. We start conservatively, explain everything clearly, and ensure you feel comfortable before proceeding. We can typically provide same-day Botox treatment following a consultation.

What if I don’t know how much Botox I need?

You don’t need to decide beforehand. Your provider evaluates your facial muscles and recommends a personalized, safe dosage plan.
